'I would teach children music, physics and philosophy; but more importantly music; for in the patterns of music and all the arts, are the keys to learning.' – Plato
Instrumental music
Instrumental music is offered to students in Year 3 and onwards. Students in the program meet with an Instrumental Music Specialist once a week for a 30 minute lesson in a small group environment.
Students in Year 3, have the opportunity to learn a String instrument. Students can learn to play the Violin, Viola, Cello or Double Bass.
In Year 4 and onwards, students have the opportunity to learn a Band instrument. Students can learn to play Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone), Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium) or Percussion (tuned and un-tuned).
It is possible for students to be part of both the Strings and Band programs. Students will perform at several concerts and events throughout the year and have opportunities to attend music camps and workshops to extend their learning.
We welcome all students to apply, regardless of prior musical experience or skill level. Our goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and grow. With small group lessons held during school hours and weekly ensemble rehearsals before school or during breaktime, your child will have ample opportunities to hone their musical skills.
If your child is passionate about music and wants to explore their musical talents, our Instrumental Music Programs are the perfect opportunity to do so. Contact our Instrumental Music Teachers for more information.
