'I would teach children music, physics and philosophy; but more importantly music; for in the patterns of music and all the arts, are the keys to learning.' – Plato
Instrumental music is offered to students in Year 3 and onwards. Students in the program meet with an Instrumental Music Specialist once a week for a 30 minute lesson in a small group environment.
In Year 3, students that have performed well in the Selmer Music Guidance Survey which is conducted in Year 2, have the opportunity to learn a String instrument. Students can learn to play the Violin, Viola, Cello or Double Bass.
In Year 4 and onwards, Students have the opportunity to learn a Band instrument. Students can learn to play Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone), Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium) or Percussion (tuned and un-tuned).
It is possible for students to be part of both the Strings and Band programs. Students will perform at several concerts and events throughout the year and have opportunities to attend music camps and workshops to extend their learning and just have lots of fun making beautiful music.
